London Fashion Week Round Up

The whirlwind of Fashion Month may still be going, but the dust has settled here in the UK as London Fashion Week draws to close for another year.

Fashion is often a reflection of what’s going on in the world, and this was definitely the case in London last week. Although Fashion Week can offer an escape from some of the realities of the world, strong political statements, environmental protests and continuing Brexit drama were all present as the shows went on.

Despite the question marks over Britain’s future, designers used the runway as a platform to showcase their own ideas around political tension, launch nostalgic collections and push forward in diversity and inclusivity.

As we pass the baton to Milan (17-23rd September) and Paris (23rd September-1st October), we’re reflecting on some of the key trends from LFW SS20. Here’s everything you need to know…

Key trends

Hats

When it comes to headwear, caps and wide brim straw hats are amongst the standout styles for SS20. Look out for different shapes and textures as featured on Charles Jeffrey, Qasimi and Emilia Wickat runways.

Scarves

You may have already spotted the classic silk scarf featuring heavily in NYFW collections, but the accessory was just as prominent on the London runways. We’re loving the bold clashing prints paired with bright colours.

Prints

Bright coloured florals are key for SS20 along with watercolour and tie-dye prints. Statement checks were also prominent on the London catwalks, finished with vintage style buttons.

Key colours

Key colours to look out for in SS20 include bold aquas, candy pinks, blood reds, bronzes and ambers. We’re also expecting muted pastel tones as seen on Fyodar Golan runway to be big next year.
